MEET YOUR PSYCHOLOGIST

CHARLOTTE WHITE (she/her)
Director | Psychologist

I'm Charlotte, registered psychologist, EMDR therapist, Supervisor, a devoted friend to every cat I've ever met and an introvert who somehow ended up doing a job that requires me to speak with people everyday. Turns out therapy and small talk are very different things.

I'm also currently back at uni doing a Master of Clinical Psychology because apparently six years of study wasn't quite enough, and I genuinely love this stuff.

How I work:

I don't have a one-size-fits-all approach, because people aren't one-size-fits-all. Here's what you can expect from working with me:

  • I'm genuinely curious about you. Not in a clipboard-and-clinical-distance way. I'm actually interested in your story. What shaped you, what's keeping you stuck, what makes you laugh despite everything. That curiosity is the foundation of everything we do together.

  • This is a space to be exactly who you are. No performance required. No editing yourself down to seem more manageable. Therapy with me is where learning and unlearning happen side by side, where you're supported and gently challenged, without ever having to be someone you're not.

  • We'll figure out what actually works for you. I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches so we can tailor sessions to what you actually need, not just what looks good on a treatment plan. Your goals, your pace, your process.

  • I'll encourage you to stretch but never snap. Growth is the goal, not comfort at all costs. I'll gently push you toward greater self-understanding and a life that feels more like yours. But gently is the operative word. We go at your pace.

WHAT ARE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS?

To become a Registered Psychologist I studied for 6 years. This included:

  • Bachelor Degree in Behavioural Science (BBehavSc)

  • Graduate Diploma of Psychology (GradDipPsych)

  • Master of Professional Psychology (MProfPsych)

Since completing my studies I have become a Board Approved Supervisor, and EMDR trained therapist.

And because I'm a complete psychology nerd who genuinely loves this field, I'm currently back at uni completing a Master of Clinical Psychology. So the learning doesn't stop. Watch this space.

WHATS YOUR BACKGROUND AS A PSYCHOLOGIST?

I started my career as a psychologist working within the criminal justice system, which I absolutely loved. This led me to roles in community mental health services and eventually private practice.

I founded Being Human Psychology in 2023 and I've been working among the trees in beautiful Olinda ever since. It turns out that the right environment makes an enormous difference, for clients and therapists alike.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT BEING SOMEONES THERAPIST?

Anything that your grandmother enjoys as a hobby, you can assume that I do, as well. I spend my weekends pottering around the house, bird-watching/animal spotting, baking, feeling warm sunshine on my face, reading, and playing with my cats and dogs.

I also really enjoy weightlifting and spent 10 years as an avid powerlifter, maybe that applies to your grandmother too?
