Starting Therapy

No, you do not need a doctor’s referral in order to see a psychologist.
However, if you wish to claim a Medicare rebate ($98.95 per session), you will need to see your GP and obtain a valid Mental Health Care Plan for psychology sessions prior to your first appointment.

At Being Human Psychology we primarily work with adults over the age of 18.

Yes, if you are self-managed.
We are only taking self-managed NDIS clients due to administrative limitations. In this instance, the client is required to pay the amount owing and present their NDIS management with a copy of their receipt in order to be reimbursed.

No, unfortunately we don’t work with Work Cover due to administrative limitations.

Yes! Once full payment is made you will be able to use the receipt to claim through your private health insurance.

Fee’s & Policies

Our standard sessions run for 50 minutes and are available both in-person and via Telehealth, whatever feels most comfortable for you.
Our consultation fees are as follows:
Standard Session: $250
After Hours Session: $280
We aim for service accessibility by ensuring our fees remain below the recommended fee of $318+ as set out by Australian Psychology Society (APS) and the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi).

If you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan and referral from your GP, you may be eligible a Medicare rebate of $98.95 for up to 10 sessions each calendar year.
Medicare rebates are processed after full payment of the consultation has been made.
Please note that cancellation fees are not eligible for a Medical rebate.

When you book an appointment, your clinician sets aside the full hour just for you. We understand that life can be unpredictable, and we do our best to be flexible, while also ensuring others on our waiting list have the opportunity to access support.
Here’s how our cancellation policy works:
48+ hours notice: no fee
Between 24–48 hours’ notice: 50% of the session fee
Less than 24 hours’ notice: 100% of the session fee
Non-attendance (no notice): 100% of the session fee
